Just posted to say that I appreciate and reciprocate your love for Twin Peaks. Awesome, underrated series. Especially the second season. Also, I dig your sound. :)

New song we’re working on sounds a lot like Boyz II Men, loads of vocal harmonies. Dale’s voice shines through the whole track. We shall be donning White suits and sticks for the next album.

Cheers! We wanted to go straight balls out rock with this new effort. And keep it short and sweet, as we tend to get bored ourselves listening to longer records.

The singing is mainly Chris, the dual singing on Firewolf’s both me and Chris.

We have another album recorded that needs mastering, which should be released Spring 2010.

Cheers

Oh how I celebrated yesterday morning when Firewolf dropped through my letterbox. I have given it a few spins and enjoying it immensely, despite its very short length.

I am interested in knowing who the vocalist is. Unfortunately, I wont be able to find out for myself on this tour. Anyone know?

A brave move with the new record and I think it works.

Further to the Scottish gigs thing, if you rummage around in http://www.tickets-scotland.com, you’ll find a list of venues throughout the country, and a spin through the gig list will offer clues as to which ones would be suitable. I’d avoid the SECC in Glasgow, though. It’s a shit-hole. And perhaps a tad big.

OK then, venues in Scotland…
Edinburgh: Sneaky Pete’s, Bannerman’s, GRV, Cabaret Voltaire, The Ark, Henry’s Cellar Bar(very small!)
Glasgow: Stereo, Ivory Blacks, Captain’s Rest, Nice’n’Sleazy, King Tut’s, Cathouse, Garage, Oran Mhor.
I’m sure that there are many fine venues in the likes of Dundee and Aberdeen, but I only know Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Can’t believe that someone could let a small resentment fester for ’some years’ and then let it spill out in such a flood of vitriol! I’m reluctant to get into a round of childish insults, but you. Sir, are a cock. Grow up, and deal with it.

Saw you support Kinski at 93ft east some years ago. Thought I’d come over and complement you on your two drummer set up and got blown off by whoever I spoke to (I was the balding A&R man on crutches you ageist gang of twats). Such a shame really. You were good but you really weren’t that good. Hope you get cancer, lose your hair and try and kiss my arse you fucking bunch of provincial Mogwai copyists.

Thanks and fuck off - you were like a noisy version of the mystery jets. Did I see daddy in the band or was he on the merchandise stand?

The stock of the CDs on this website is totally out of the band’s control; the CDs belong to the old label, and the old label won’t release any more. However, you can still get Embers from various places on Amazon here, and while it’s almost impossible to get And The Battle Is Won on CD, you can buy the MP3s on Amazon here. Hope that helps.

hey guys
sorry for the delay but finally got hold of “Embers” last week. Been listening to it on constant rotation, as they say, ever since. Absolutely brilliant and worth the wait although I’m sure we’d all rather not have waited.
There’s a new venue opening very soon in Folkestone called the Quarterhouse. Might be worth checking out. Either way, we hope to come and see you play again real soon, been too long.

Andrew, if you’re still out there, you can get Embers on Amazon, both new and used. And you should, it’s jaw-droppingly fine stuff. If I didn’t have it already, I’d sell my children for a copy.
While I’m here, I don’t suppose there’s any chance of some live shows in Scotland in the foreseeable future? Edinburgh would be good. Or Glasgow. Dammit, I’d even go to Newcastle.

only 14? ha. I’d really love to come to a gig but i’m in the midlands so its a long way. i might make it one day but i imagine you can sell 14 in one night. ill keep looking.. theres a million ways of spelling the band name so someone must have a copy.

Does that mean theres no chance of you ever releasing those on CD again either? From the 3 songs ive heard embers sounds amazing, but it says sold out on your site and it only came out last october? i cant even find it used anywhere..

Couldn’t you just pretend the songs are remixes and release it as a new album?

Name: Gary Upc

Sorry about the late reply.

No plans for Embers or Battle on Vinyl, sorry!
These we released through Tap N TIn Records, who we are no longer with.
They don’t have any more plans for us, and we don’t want them earning any money out of us!
We can’t get another label or self release the 2 albums as the Tap own the recordings.

We’re looking for a decent booking agent, but I’m not sure we’ll get to play
the Us yet.

You never know though.

Thanks

Hey guys,

first off, just want to thank you for making such amazing music. I absolutely love “The Jangling Dischords of Our Nation EP”, “And The Battle Is Won” and “Embers”, fantastic stuff.

Anyways I’m just curious, what exactly is the proper way to write the band name? I have all my files tagged as “Up-C Down-C Left-C Right-C ABC + Start” but I’ve seen it typed without the dashes, as well as the first part being typed as one word. I mean it’s not a big deal at all really, often I just find myself shortening it to “Up C Down C” whenever I’m discussing it, but I just wanted to ask you guys anyways. Thanks again for making wonderful music, take care, peace.

a friend of mine told me about a free mail service that’s totally free of annoying spam. I’ve used it since June 1st and haven’t received a single piece of spam.
however, a mail with my girlfriend’s pics (90mb) was once delayed for about 5h.
Let’s make a list of the purest free mail services - who uses what and for how long and what problems arise

There’s no proper way really, though I always wrote it Up-C Down-C Left-C Right-C ABC + Start on mp3s and stuff, just to be concise.

I was looking back through some of the old artwork the other day and I think it was written in a different way on every release until the band accidentally settled on the version you see at the top of the site starting with “Jangling Dischords…”

Name: Elliott
Date: June 10, 2008 @ 2:27 pm

So… what’s the proper way of spelling your name?

Upcdowncleftcrightcabc+start?

Up-C Down-C Left-C Right-C ABC + Start?

Some variations thereof with difference in capitalisations?

hola bitchez,

hope you are all well.

well now, we’ve launched a mini forum at http://www.post-core.com it’ll eventually have a mailing list to all members. just a way of promoting shows, bitching, reviwing etc. so that the right people will get to hear about it, mainly local. Myspazz is still good for that admitedly, but it’s nice to not have to sift myspace for gigs and news. post up some shows or youtube links or whatever.

Cheers Graham, glad you enjoyed it despite it appearing to be a total mess from our perspective.

Later on, we found Josh T Pearson wandering around in the field around the time he was meant to play, and he didn’t have a clue what was going on. Nobody had told him where he was meant to be, and didn’t even have an amp to play on. Eventually Gary and Chris went and got him an amp and basically put him on themselves! Unbelievable.

Anyways, thanks again for coming.

hello,
we (that’s me, the missus and our 2 ridulously young children) really really enjoyed your set on Friday. The festy was a bit of a shambles, wasn’t it? If it’s any consolation things were worse on Saturday - the bands, due to start at 11am, kicked off aorund 3pm!! Anyway, you was great. We’ll try and get to see you again soon and very much look fwd to the 2nd LP. I liked all the drumming - it reminded me of Ultravox on the Monument tour and that has to be a good thing.

Bests,
Graham x

Whoops, missed that, sorry! To be quite honest though, we wouldn’t have been much use - we never know when we’re going on, and when we do “know”, it ususally turns out to be about an hour late anyway.

Damn, I don’t have anything by them, I’ll be sure to change that though, based on what you guys have said.

Robin, I love Te, they’re energetic and they’ve got a unique sound. Are you into Natsumen? If you haven’t already, you have to check them out. Their music is an absolutely mind-blowing fusion of post-rock and jazz, and it’s infused with melody.

Yeah couldn’t agree more. I first bought ‘Thought For Food’ and was really disappointed, then a friend lent me The Lemon of Pink and Lost and Safe. They’re both much better albums, but Lost And Found is in a league of its own - I absolutely love it.

I love The Books. Their first two albums are crap in comparison to Lost And Safe, which is one of the most perfect albums I’ve ever heard.

Hey, yeah I’ve been listening to Day For Airstrikes recently too. ‘Secret Whale’ is a great little album - I can’t get enough of the track ‘Anthamas Yelsom’. I’ve heard of From The Sky, but not actually listened to them yet - thanks for the recommendation though, I’ll make sure to check them out :)

Other stuff I’ve been listening to is the album ‘If That Is What Is Being Thought..’ by Té. It’s very good, and I’m sure you’d like it if you haven’t already heard it before! And on a slightly less related note, I’m also hopelessly obsessed with ‘Lost and Safe’ by The Books at the moment.

Robin good call there, that album’s quite solid, I love ‘City Lights Scraped the Sky.’ Have you heard From the Sky’s mini-album, that’s also a keeper. Lately though, Day For Airstrike’s ‘Secret Whale’ has been dominating the rotation.

Haha yeah, I don’t wanna come off as a raging fanboy either - but you guys are very good, it’s simple as that. I really want to go to the upcoming Tap N Tin gig and see you live but alas, I’m at university in Nottingham, money is tight at the moment and trains are expensive! Hopefully I’ll catch you in the Summer.

Hey Sanjeev, have you given the new album by Gifts From Enola a spin? It’s pretty good and reminds me of Upc quite a lot. And I’m with you on the ridiculous consistency of ATBIW by the way ;)

Date: March 1, 2007 @ 9:40 pm

Haha no problem man, btw thanks for that info.

Aww shucks, glad you like it! :) Thanks for the support!

Hey Robin, spot on with that post. I mean sure, I listen to a lot of stuff throughout the course of the week/month/whatever, but ultimately, it all leads back to ATBIW. No matter what mind state I’m in, I can just put it on and forget about everything. The consistency of the album is ridiculous, it’s like these guys are incapable of making a bad track, which is why we’re so anxiously awaiting this new release. I don’t mean to get all fanboy here, but damn, quality shit. Easily my favorite band, along with Aereogramme, Pelican, and Euphoria.

I can relate with Sanjeev - I’ve basically listened to ATBIW pretty much non-stop for over a year now, and it still manages to sound fresh whenever I hear it. It’s a fucking incredible album that I can’t stop telling people about.

Sooo I’m really looking forward to the new album too - it’s going to completely boggle my brains if it turns out to be better than ATBIW (and I have every reason to belive that it will be).

Weeeeeeell, we’re almost done on the mixing. Then there’s mastering to do, and the artwork… so a couple of months yet at least. More details? Hm. It’s just under an hour long, and there are some short bits as well as long bits.

Name: Sanjeev
Date: February 28, 2007 @ 2:06 am

That is one bold statement. Any new details??? When can I preorder this badboy?

Name: mart
Date: February 27, 2007 @ 11:29 am

The new album beats ATBIW to death with its own legs.

Name: Sanjeev
Date: February 27, 2007 @ 1:27 am

Just wanted to drop by and say you guys are the fucking shit. ‘And the Battle is Won’ is unbeatable, if your new album can top that, I don’t know man, that’s just a scary notion.

Seriously, considering how many times ‘AtBiW’ has been on repeat, it’s not right that I haven’t gotten sick of it.
